The lawyers at Jeruchim & Davenport expertly represent clients in a wide range of federal and state criminal investigations and cases, as well as in related civil and regulatory matters. In federal courts, we aggressively defend our clients who are under investigation by one or more of the many federal investigative agencies, summoned to appear in federal grand juries, have been indicted federally and face prosecution in US District Court, or have filed appeals of their cases from either state or federal court. In state courts, we litigate criminal matters in all of their various forms, including criminal complaints in both the District and Superior Courts, appeals at all levels, and juvenile cases, including juvenile delinquency, Care and Protection cases, and investigations by the Department of Social Services (DSS). Some of the many related civil and regulatory matters professionally handled by our lawyers include hearings regarding drivers' licenses at the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV), hearings on classification before the Sex Offender Registry Board, civil forfeiture hearings in drug cases, and mental health hearings, including competency, criminal responsibility, and civil commitment. Our effectiveness in the area of criminal litigation in particular results from our extensive experience in both the defense and prosecution of such cases, and at all stages of criminal litigation right up to jury trial. However, many times our effectiveness lies in preventing a case from ever reaching trial. Many cases are resolved through our skilled negotiation, leading to the civil settlement of what could have been a criminal prosecution, or convincing the District Attorney's Office that the interests of justice will not be served by indictment. Our office also thoroughly investigates its cases, often exonerating those who were initially charged with a crime. In those cases which do go to trial, however, our attorneys exhibit their greatest talent, demonstrating superior trial skills cultivated by years of experience in front of both judges and juries. |
